Saying Goodbye to Facebook is so...

I decided that I would go on a Facebook hiatus. I think it's been about two weeks now. I was shocked on all the things that I could do, not reading and posting on Facebook. I have gained more intimate friendships giving up Facebook  Crazy huh?? People that I do not speak to off of Facebook has been friends that I can pick up the phone and converse with. I cannot believe how impersonal I became. I have been baking more, exercising more, and too many other things. I don't wake up with my phone trying to see who said what. Like any other addiction, I had a hard time letting go at first but the more I was away the less I missed it. I do miss  reading some of the good news, pictures, and spirit uplifting messages. I do not miss the game request, some of the drama, or negativity that I became accustomed to reading.

Will I be back on Facebook? Sure I will but after this experience I realize that Facebook is just a tool. It does not replace life and all the beautiful things that are NOT on Facebook.

Do you think you could go on a Twitter, Facebook, IG, or etc hiatus? I didn't give up my Myfitnesspal. MFP has been very beneficial to me. However, when I get this healthy lifestyle under my belt, I will go on a hiatus from that, too.

Ha. Ha. Ha. With letting go of Facebook, for a bit, I have more time to Blog. ;)

52 week challenge-Completed

I know I have been horrible with updates on my 52 week challenge but I did NOT forget about it. I completed my goal ending up with $2300. I look 300 and spent it on myself and the rest stays put. I will be doing this in 2013. I am pretty proud that I was successful with this challenge. It wasnt too hard at all.

Also, I am quite proud that I am almost debt free. I do have school loans and car loan that I am working on. However, I am right where I want to be. We are also thinking about investing in a home. Being a military family, I am still a little hesitant since I do move every 3 years but I do want the investment. I will keep you posted.

Background on the challenge-

This wonderful lady inspired me...

Why am I doing this challenge? Since I spend money on sooo much that I dont really need. Why not incorporate a simple savings plan that I can see grow.

In 52 weeks you can save $1378 by saving money each week. All you need to do is save the same amount as the week you are on.

Week 1= $1
Week 2=$2
So on and so forth.

Feel free to add more to your savings but please to the minimum. At the end of this challenge do what you like with the money; vacation, IRA, Saving, down payment of a car or home project.

My Journey To Clean Eating

Since I decided to start eating clean I get facebook inboxed and texted the same question. I decided to share here. Bet you thought I forgot about my blog. Nope, not at all. Just when it comes to family life, school, working, and social media, I have to pick what is more important and sometimes blogging is at the end of my list.

But anyway since I didnt sign on for THAT.

The question is "Has clean eating increased my grocery bill?" Well yes and no. Firstly, I have always eaten certain organic products like eggs and meats. I'm not really a processed food eating. I have recently adapted no refined products to my lifestyle. I avoid white sugar, white flour, and processed cereal.

Its a slow process for me. I have never been a big milk drinker but I LOVE cheese and soy is not an option. Though I heard there are some local farmers that offer organic cheese, as well.

For the yes part, I have been trying to be creative with my staple products; seasonings and such. So in that aspect, yes.  Since I will not purchase staple items every week, they will not be an issue. I hope that helps some.

I have been doing this, 90% clean, for about 2 weeks. I have lost weight. However,  my goal is not for weight loss. After doing lots of research, I realize that this lifestyle is better suited for me. I do feel healthier. I can see this being a way of life. Now do I wish I had a Whole foods close? OF COURSE. Its my fave hang out. I don't like driving an hour to get to my fave hang out though.

If you have any other question, please please feel free to ask. This is still a learning experience for me. I am learning as I go but I do have to tell you that I am loving it.

In Review: Jane Carter Curl Defining Cream

IMAG0642.jpg

For Mother's Day, My mom gifted me the whole line of the Jane Carter. I tried all the products here and there. Some I loved. Some I didn't quite like.

The curl defining cream was one of the products that I didn't like much. I have never been too fond of cream defining creams. Though, I gave it a try. My initial thoughts on this products wasnt to good. It left my hair very frizzy with no definition. I didnt mind the results because I dont mind frizz but when I am looking for a product that suppose to define curls, I want the definition.

Then I decided to try the product again. The second time must be a charm because I adore my results.

Initially, I put the product on as I do with any curling product. I scrunch it in. So I decided that this time I will try a different way. This time I smooth the product in. Some may call it the praying hand method. Then I racked my fingers through it.

IMAG0639-1.jpg Each time I did sit under the dry. Each time I did apply a heat protectant. Both times I had very little crunch. It left me with soft hair. This time with soft coils that I love. I do have a lot of shrinkage but I love my wash and go's with a lot of shrinkage. I think its cuter that way. As you can see in the picture above...A LOT of Shrinkage. When stretched, my hair is collar bone length.

I have a lot of shine though I am sure that the heat protectant has a lot to do with it.

Will I use it again? Yes! Will I purchase again? Yes, if my results continue to be like this.

Thanks Mom!!
